The Nuance acquisition gave Microsoft two things that matter more than model quality here: an installed base of dictation users who already have the hardware and habits, and existing deep integrations with the major EHRs. Distribution has decided more of this market than performance has.
Where It Is Used
- Ambient note generation in Epic and other major EHRs
- Dictation and ambient capture in one workflow
- Order and referral drafting from the conversation
Limitations Worth Knowing
Deep EHR integration is a switching cost as well as a benefit, and it concentrates a health system's clinical documentation on one vendor. As with all ambient tools, the clinician signing the note owns its accuracy regardless of what drafted it.
This tool is not an FDA-cleared medical device. Nothing here is a procurement recommendation, and product capabilities in this category change quickly ... confirm current functionality, data handling, and contractual terms directly with the vendor.
