Differential generation is a genuinely useful failure-mode correction. Anchoring is the most common diagnostic error in medicine, and a list that includes the diagnosis you were not considering has value even when most of the list is wrong. That is a different and lower bar than being right.
Where It Is Used
- Differential diagnosis generation
- Teaching and trainee reasoning support
- Structured plan drafting for complex presentations
Limitations Worth Knowing
A generated differential reflects the problem representation it was given, so a biased or incomplete input produces a biased differential that looks comprehensive. These tools are not validated diagnostic devices, and rare or atypical presentations are exactly where both the clinician and the model are weakest.
This tool is not an FDA-cleared medical device. Nothing here is a procurement recommendation, and product capabilities in this category change quickly ... confirm current functionality, data handling, and contractual terms directly with the vendor.
